Also known as plates or false teeth, partial dentures in Dunstan NE66 are custom-made to replace a small number of teeth or a single tooth. They are false teeth attached to plastic gum-pink bases with clasps that connect to your natural teeth. Sometimes crowns are also fitted to your natural teeth to provide adequate support for the false teeth.
Your dentist will give you a full dental exam and take impressions of your teeth in order to ensure your false teeth are made to fit accurately. A preliminary model is created, allowing you the chance to approve the fit and appearance of your false teeth (any necessary adjustments will be made). Once your false teeth are ready and you’re happy with how they look and feel, you can wear them home. They may feel strange and uncomfortable at first, but your mouth will get used to them in time.
Alternately, temporary false teeth can be fitted on the same day as the necessary natural teeth are removed. After a healing period of about six months, the temporary false teeth are removed and the permanent false teeth are fitted. However, if the teeth needing to be removed are at the back of the mouth, it’s usually best to wait for the gum to fully heal before the false teeth are fitted.
